Photography Tuition

Tuition is one to one (unless you want to bring one or two friends) and tailored to your needs and ability.  As much time as possible is spent on location actually taking photographs.  Choice of locations and your particular interests will be discussed beforehand and an itinerary will be suggested for your approval. You may find it helpful to send me photos (your own or ones that you aspire to) before the tutorial.

The approach is to keep it simple and get it right, in the camera. The need for manipulating the image after it has been downloaded to the computer is kept to a minimum. i.e. the image in the camera should be virtually ready to print.

Any camera will do: compact, SLR (single lens reflex), film or digital.  (I've had a photo in the national press taken on a £5 single use camera!)

It is best to learn on your own camera but a Nikon digital SLR is available if you would like to try it.

On location I will offer much encouragement  and keep things as simple as possible.  However I am also happy to answer questions and give advice on composition, lens selection, ISO values, shutter speeds, aperture selection, colour balance and even circles of confusion if that's what interests you!

Please remember that the course will progress at your pace and cover the subjects that most interest you.  If you want to visit locations which involve very little walking then this can be arranged.

After the course you will be invited to email me your favourite photos for an evaluation, when I will also answer any questions you might have.
