Wildlife and islands.

I love islands, particularly Scottish islands. I've worked and lived on Scottish islands and owned a very small one with otters and seals - it was like having my own nature reserve. I've also visited and stayed on many islands worldwide - lots of them uninhabited.
It's the wildlife and scenery that attracts me. On a recent visit to the Hebrides, off the west coast of Scotland, I saw 7 Rissos Dolphins, 2 Basking Sharks, 2 Otters and a Minke Whale, all on the first day. The photos of the Minke Whale and Basking Shark from this trip are shown here. Both photos were taken from land with a 70-300mm lens.
Wildlife photography trips to the Scottish islands can be arranged. Please enquire.

Corncrakes are rare and extremely shy birds. I was about 3 metres away from this bird and I wasn't using a hide. Work that one out! | I've studied otters nearly all my life. I saw 65 one year. There's an otter rehabilitation centre near where I live and it's sometimes possible to see, hold and photograph otters there. |
